Selangor Police Probe Gang Links After Recent Klang Shootings

Date:

Selangor police are investigating possible gang involvement in a series of shootings in Klang, amid growing concerns over gun violence and organised crime in the state.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that gang activity is a key focus of the ongoing probe, although no arrests have been made so far.

“The investigation is still ongoing, and all aspects are being examined,” Shazeli said at a press conference today.

The current inquiry follows a disturbing pattern of shootings across Selangor this year. In June, a 46-year-old man was shot dead inside his vehicle in Taman Meru Utama, Klang, in a case linked to organised crime. In October, a shooting in Kuala Selangor over a drug trafficking dispute led to 10 arrests.

Violence returned to Klang on November 29, when a man was shot dead inside his four-wheel-drive in Taman Mesra Indah. Another shooting occurred in the district on December 14, prompting authorities to focus on possible gang rivalries in the area.

Shazeli stressed that the investigation into the November and December killings involves multiple factors that require careful examination, and confirmed that no arrests have yet been made.
