A business premise in North City Centre, Selayang has been ordered to close immediately after authorities discovered chickens and ducks being kept in filthy conditions, violating hygiene regulations.
During a seizure operation prompted by viral social media complaints, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers found multiple serious violations at the premises. The owner had been keeping live chickens inside the business, draining chicken blood into public drains, constructing coops within the commercial area, and allowing animal waste to accumulate, producing a foul odor.
“DBKL’s Pest Control Unit has seized a total of 110 animals, consisting of 99 chickens and 11 ducks,” the local authority stated on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
The premise owner was also fined for discharging chicken blood into public drains. In addition to the closure, a notice to remove disturbances was issued to ensure the area is cleaned of animal waste and all coop structures are demolished.
DBKL emphasized that monitoring and coordinated operations will continue periodically to safeguard public health, urban cleanliness, and the well-being of city residents.
