The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe continuous heavy rain warning for East Malaysia, which is expected to last until Saturday.
MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said weather forecast models indicate that the monsoon surge will likely continue through Sunday.
He added that the warning for strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea has been extended until next Tuesday.
“This situation could bring persistent rainfall to Sarawak, western Sabah, and the Federal Territory of Labuan. At the same time, strong winds and rough seas are expected in the South China Sea,” he said in a statement.
The public is advised to stay updated through MetMalaysia’s website at www.met.gov.my, follow its official social media channels, and download relevant alerts.
