Two students were caught on video engaging in a fistfight while a crowd of classmates surrounded them, cheering and clapping as if watching a brawl in a ring.
The video circulating on social media shows the two uniformed students fighting inside what appears to be an abandoned building unit. Both were seen exchanging punches and kicks as several students watched and recorded the scene.
At one point, a few bystanders tried to step in and separate the fighters, but despite being pulled apart, one of the students appeared dissatisfied and charged back to attack the other again before finally being restrained.
It is believed the students involved attend a school in the Kuala Langat district of Selangor.
Meanwhile, Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Mohamad Azmer Ismail confirmed the incident when contacted. He said although no formal police report has been lodged, the authorities have taken note of the viral video following requests from the school and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for action to be taken.
He added that police officers have since visited the school to gather information from the administration and students involved. A formal statement will be issued once investigations are complete.
“We will do our best to provide guidance and education to the students involved,” he said.
