Shoppers Evacuated as Fire Erupts at Mydin Vista Tunku in Kuching

Shoppers and staff were evacuated from Pasaraya Mydin Vista Tunku in Petra Jaya this morning after a fire broke out on the first floor of the complex.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the incident was reported at around 11.40am, prompting the immediate deployment of firefighting teams to the scene.

Firefighters began extinguishing efforts upon arrival while coordinating with mall security to carry out a full evacuation of the building.

“All individuals inside the premises are being directed to designated safe zones,” the department said in a statement.

The number of people present in the complex at the time of the incident has yet to be confirmed. Fire containment and evacuation operations remain ongoing.

Pasaraya Mydin Vista Tunku is located about five kilometres from Kuching city centre.
