Singapore-Based Woman Injured After Myvi Crashes into Lamp Post in Johor Bahru

Date:

A 30-year-old Malaysian woman working in Singapore was injured early this morning after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a roadside lamp post in Johor Bahru. The incident caused significant traffic disruption along the affected stretch of road.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:50 AM at the 3.5km mark on the Lido Beach-Skudai-bound road, near the exit from the Inner Ring Road flyover onto Skudai Road.

Photos and videos circulating online show the lamp post toppled across the road, blocking two lanes. The front of the woman’s Perodua Myvi was visibly crushed by the fallen pole.

Johor Bahru South District Police Chief Raub confirmed that the driver, a local woman commuting home after her night shift in Singapore, lost control of her car before crashing into the left-side lamp post. She sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Johor Bahru City Council promptly deployed workers to clear the fallen pole and restore traffic flow.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by the driver’s loss of control. Police are investigating the case under Section 10 of the Road Transport Act 1959 for failure to maintain control of the vehicle leading to an accident.
