Six Including Two Teenagers Charged Over Meth Trafficking Case In Melaka

Date:

Six individuals, including two teenagers, were charged at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for allegedly trafficking drugs involving 103.35 grammes of methamphetamine.

The accused comprise five adults — Mohd Ikmal Mustafa, 28, Mohamad Ali Mahadi, 50, Muhammad Fuaad Azahari, 35, and Nurul Syahirah Mohamad Ali, 28 — along with a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. All of them acknowledged the charges when read to them through an interpreter, but no plea was recorded.

The charge stated that they were jointly accused of trafficking the dangerous drug methamphetamine weighing 103.35g at a house in Jalan Sungai Udang, Melaka, at about 9.45pm on March 25.

They were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, read together with Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment, and if not sentenced to death, at least 12 strokes of the cane.

Proceedings were conducted before Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani, with Deputy Public Prosecutor Syauqi Mardia Baharudin leading the case. None of the accused were represented by legal counsel.

The court set May 25 for mention, pending a chemical report to confirm the exact weight of the drugs, while no bail was offered to all the accused.
