Student Charged with Indecent Exposure, Possession of 2,000 Obscene Videos and Images

A 24-year-old higher education student was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with committing an act of gross indecency and possessing more than 2,000 obscene videos and images.

The accused, Xyful Naseem Muzzammil Rizuwan, pleaded not guilty after both charges were read separately before Magistrate Arun Noval Dass.

Allegedly Exposed Himself to Jogger

Under the first charge, the accused is alleged to have intentionally committed an act of gross indecency by exposing himself to a 34-year-old housewife. The offence was said to have taken place at Jalan Parit Sempadan Laut, Parit Raja, at about 8am on January 26.

The charge was framed under Section 377D of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of two years upon conviction.

Over 2,000 Obscene Files Found

In the second charge, he is accused of possessing 1,259 obscene videos and 1,196 explicit images on his mobile phone. The alleged offence was committed at the same date, time and location.

The charge falls under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both, if convicted.

Victim Allegedly Chased

According to reports, the incident occurred while the victim and two friends were jogging along Jalan Parit Sempadan Laut when they heard noises coming from nearby bushes.

The victim reportedly saw an unknown man standing near the bushes in a state of undress. The accused is said to have then followed the women, causing them to panic and flee.

The victim allegedly shouted for help from nearby residents, prompting the suspect to run back into the bushes and put his clothes on before leaving the scene.

Prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharifah Natasha Syed Ahmad, while the accused was represented by counsel Suhaila Shafi’uddin.
