Tanker Truck Plows Into Traffic Light After Running Red, Motorcyclist Makes Narrow Escape

Date:

A tanker truck lost control and crashed into a traffic light pole after failing to stop at a red light at an intersection in Bintulu on Wednesday, police confirmed.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 12:39pm when the tanker accelerated as the traffic signal turned red, colliding with an SUV that had stopped in compliance with the light. A motorcyclist waiting in the adjacent lane narrowly avoided being hit by leaping off the vehicle just in time.

The dramatic incident was recorded on a passing car’s dashcam and quickly circulated on social media, prompting widespread public attention.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, while netizens have criticised the tanker driver’s apparent rush to beat the traffic light. Road safety experts are urging motorists to adhere strictly to traffic signals and exercise caution to prevent similar accidents.
