A temple medium was found dead in an apartment unit in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan, after allegedly being stabbed 12 times.
The incident was discovered at about 11am yesterday at an apartment in Bandar Universiti Mantin.
The victim was identified as Tan Fah Xuan, 39, who operated a shrine in Taman Pelangi Mantin and was the head of the Mantin Liu Ren Fu Ying Hall. He was well known locally and had many followers.
Sources said the crime scene was an apartment unit belonging to a friend, which was also a place where the victim would gather with friends.
The case came to light after the victim’s friends failed to see him for several days. Unable to locate him at the shrine and receiving no response to phone calls, they went to the apartment to look for him, where they discovered his body and subsequently lodged a police report.
Nilai district police chief Supt Johari confirmed the case in a statement tonight, saying investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He said police have arrested two local men to assist in the investigation.
“The two suspects have been remanded for seven days, from December 31, 2025, to January 6, 2026,” he said.
Johari urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation. He also called on anyone with information related to the case to contact the Nilai district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
He added that a post-mortem examination revealed the victim sustained a total of 12 stab wounds — four to the back of the head, three to the chest, one to the neck, and two each to the elbow and shoulder blade areas.
Investigations are ongoing and cover multiple aspects, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, witness statements, forensic findings and technical analysis. Police have not ruled out the possibility that other individuals may be involved.
