Tenant Stole Woman’s Underwear And Sets House On Fire Leaving One Dead And One In ICU

Date:

A residential fire broke out early this morning (Nov 3) on Wuguang Road in Taichung’s Wuri District, allegedly sparked by a dispute with a former tenant, leaving one dead and one critically injured. Authorities noted that the former tenant had previously stolen the homeowner’s daughter’s underwear, with legal proceedings still ongoing.

The fire department received a report at 2:15 a.m., dispatching nine units, 22 fire trucks, and 46 firefighters to the scene. The building, a two-story structure with metal siding, saw flames aggressively engulf the first floor. Firefighters quickly set up hoses and managed to control the blaze by 2:36 a.m., fully extinguishing it by 2:44 a.m.

Rescue personnel found two females on the second floor—a 50-year-old mother and her 17-year-old daughter—both in cardiac arrest upon arrival at the hospital. They were rushed to Chung Shan Medical University Hospital and Asia University Hospital for emergency treatment. The mother’s heartbeat was restored and she remains under ICU observation, while the daughter was pronounced dead.
