Teresa Kok, Akmal Meet In Melaka Court Over “Old Nyonya Lady”, Halal Dispute

Date:

DAP Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok and UMNO Youth chief Datuk Mohd Akmal Saleh appeared at the Melaka court this morning for mediation in a defamation lawsuit filed by Kok against Akmal over remarks related to halal certification and the “old nyonya lady” issue.

Both parties arrived at the court separately and appeared calm, greeting members of the media present.

Akmal arrived at the Ayer Keroh court at 10.26am, accompanied by his lawyer, while Kok arrived at 11.03am.

The case was first heard in chambers for procedural matters and case management, allowing the judge, as well as counsel for both parties, to clarify disputed issues, exchange documents and explore the possibility of a settlement outside a formal trial.

Akmal was seen smiling upon arrival and shook hands with several journalists. Kok later remarked that the court was particularly crowded and lively this morning.

Security personnel were stationed outside the chambers, and members of the public were not allowed to enter.
