Three fans were injured after a safety barrier collapsed during Super Junior’s concert at the KSPO Dome in Seoul on Sunday (April 5), causing several audience members to fall from a height.
The incident happened while the K-pop group was performing Too Many Beautiful Girls, when member Ryeowook approached the audience area and reached out to interact with fans. As fans stretched out their hands, the safety fence reportedly gave way, resulting in three people falling to a lower level.
Ryeowook appeared visibly shocked and immediately moved away from the edge of the stage before seeking assistance backstage. Fellow member Siwon was also seen checking on the situation and asking fans whether they were alright.
The group’s agency, SM Entertainment, later issued an apology, confirming that the collapsed barricade led to injuries. The affected fans were taken to hospital for treatment, with doctors assessing that they would require around two weeks of rest for sprains and bruises.
The agency said it would fully support the injured fans and carry out a thorough review of safety measures to prevent similar incidents in future events. Such occurrences have once again raised concerns over crowd safety at large-scale concerts, where close fan interactions can sometimes pose unexpected risks.
One of the injured fans later shared her experience online, saying both Ryeowook and Siwon personally checked on them after the incident and even visited the hospital. She also urged the public not to spread misinformation and clarified that she still supports the group.
Super Junior leader Leeteuk also addressed the incident during a livestream, expressing regret over what happened and apologising to fans, saying the group had hoped to bring happiness until the very end of the show.
