Three Workers Found Dead in Banting Factory Fire

At least three people were killed in a massive fire that swept through four factories, including an oil processing facility, at the Olak Lempit Industrial Area in Banting, Selangor, yesterday.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the victims’ bodies were discovered charred during inspections at the scene. The oil processing factory was completely destroyed in the blaze.

“The fire involved four adjacent premises, including an oil processing factory. The bodies were found during overhaul operations at the oil factory,” he said.

The department received the emergency alert at around 11:03pm and quickly mobilised 69 personnel and officers. The fire was successfully brought under control by approximately 1:15am today.

Fire and Rescue stations involved in the operation included Banting, KLIA, Dengkil, Cyberjaya, Bangi, Petaling Jaya, Precinct 7 Putrajaya, and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan, with additional support from volunteer fire brigades from Sri Serdang, Seri Kembangan, and Rantau Panjang, Klang.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
