Two fatal road accidents occurred in Lipis, Pahang on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of a mother and a motorcyclist in separate incidents.


Lipis District Police Chief, Ismail, said in a statement that the first tragedy involved a 51-year-old mother, Zainah Maimai, from Kampung Posik, Merapoh. The incident happened around 5:00 PM as she was driving home after picking up her children from school.
The accident occurred at KM37 of the Central Spine Road, near Kampung Sungai Yeh. Zainah’s car is believed to have gone out of control, veered off the road, crashed into a roadside drain, and overturned into nearby bushes. She died at the scene.
Two of her children, aged 19 and 14, who were passengers in the car, sustained only minor injuries and were treated at the Merapoh Health Clinic.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the mother was on her way home after picking up her children from SMK Sri Lipis.
Her body has been sent to Lipis Hospital for a post-mortem examination.


Earlier that same day, around 2:30 PM, another fatal crash occurred at KM17 along the Sungai Koyan–Pos Betau route.
The victim, Wan Ahmad Kamarul, a 38-year-old stationery store supervisor from Kuala Terengganu, was riding his motorcycle when he is believed to have lost control while navigating a bend. He crashed into a roadside utility pole and died on the spot.
According to police, he had just completed some work duties in Putrajaya and was on his way home at the time of the accident.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death. Police are urging any witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigations.
