A transport company owner was fined RM15,000 by the Sessions Court today after pleading guilty to possessing diesel oil beyond the permitted limit.
Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad sentenced 47-year-old Chin Wei Sin Vincent, with an eight-month jail term in default of payment.
The court also ruled that proceeds from the sale of the diesel and all confiscated goods be forfeited to the Malaysian government via the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, while the company’s lorry would be returned to its owner.
Chin, the sole owner of the company holding a scheduled controlled goods permit, was found in possession of 5,940 litres of diesel—well over the permitted 2,000 litres.
The offence occurred at Vincent Chin Enterprise in the Pengkalan 2 Industrial Estate, Batu Gajah, at 9am on March 8, 2024.
He was charged under Regulation 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, punishable under Section 22(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which carries a fine of up to RM1 million, up to three years’ jail, or both.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Nazreen Zabarudin and Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry officer N. Shamani prosecuted the case, while Chin represented himself.
