Following the strongest earthquake to hit Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula in 73 years, both the Philippines and Indonesia issued tsunami warnings on Wednesday.

According to CNN, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) announced that certain coastal areas facing the Pacific may experience tsunami waves of less than one metre in height.

PHIVOLCS predicted that the first waves could arrive between 1:20 PM and 2:40 PM on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency also issued a warning, stating that tsunami waves below 0.5 metres could impact parts of Indonesia on Wednesday afternoon.
