Two 13-Year-Old Students Killed in Tragic Morning Crash on Way to School

Date:

Two students who were killed in a tragic accident involving two vehicles along Jalan Bukit Keluang this morning have been confirmed to be Form One students.

Besut District Police Chief, Superintendent Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu, said the victims were identified as Wan Mohamad Shahronny Wan Rosli and Nik Aqil Faizin Nik Abdul Aziz, both aged 13 and studying at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Permaisuri Nur Zahirah.

He said the accident, which occurred around 7:30 a.m., is believed to have happened as the two students were on their way to school, riding a Yamaha Y16ZR motorcycle.

“The victims’ motorcycle, which was coming out from a junction, is believed to have collided with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by a woman who was heading from Taman Persiaran Limbungan towards the Sultan Mizan Teachers Training Institute,” he said in a statement today.

Both victims suffered serious head and body injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, while the MPV driver sustained minor injuries.

The bodies have been sent to Hospital Besut for post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Earlier reports confirmed that two people were killed and one injured in the collision involving a motorcycle and a Nissan Serena MPV.
