Two men, aged 25 and 29, have been arrested over the theft of a Honda EX5 motorcycle at the Mekarsari Flat last Monday.
Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abd Rahman said the theft was reported at 11.30am after the victim discovered that his brother’s motorcycle, which had been parked in the designated area, had gone missing.
Initial checks showed the motorcycle was properly locked and no duplicate key was used. The road tax and insurance had also expired.
CCTV footage from the parking area confirmed that two local men were involved. Acting on intelligence and surveillance operations, police tracked down and arrested the suspects.
One of the men has a prior criminal record, including drug offences, while the other has no previous convictions. Both tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, and the suspects are expected to be remanded in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court this morning.
