Residents of Taman Cempaka 2 in Durian Tunggal were left in shock after two Bangladeshi men, believed to be brothers, were found dead in their rented home on Tuesday night.
The tragic discovery was made around 5:30 p.m. after nearby residents reported hearing shouting and screams coming from the house. Moments later, the pair’s housemate returned home only to find both men lifeless.
Neighbor Muhammad Zuhaili Mohd Zin, 31, said he was not home during the incident, but his wife had heard loud screams coming from next door.
“When I got back, I saw one of their housemates crying outside. I went in and saw the kitchen in a mess, with one man lying face-down on the floor covered in blood. The other appeared to have hanged himself inside a locked room,” he told reporters at the scene.
The two brothers had reportedly been renting the house for over six months and were working at a nearby construction site. Zuhaili said they were polite and often greeted neighbors, though he didn’t know them well.
He added that the younger brother was married to an Indonesian woman and had a baby, but his wife had allegedly run away with their child two weeks ago.
“Before this, we often heard them arguing. The wife would scold the younger brother frequently — probably because he didn’t want her to work. Maybe that stress led to this tragic ending,” he said.
Zuhaili described the younger sibling as quiet and kind, saying no one expected their family issues to end so terribly.
“I never thought it would come to this — fighting with your own brother. He never even talked back when his wife scolded him,” he added.
The bodies of both men were removed from the house at around 10:45 p.m. after forensic and police teams completed their investigations.
As of now, police have not released an official statement regarding the cause of death.
