Two Burned To Death After Car Catches Fire At Jitra Toll Plaza

Two people were found burned to death after the car they were travelling in caught fire following a crash at the Jitra toll plaza along the North-South Expressway early today.

Jitra Fire and Rescue Station chief Noor Azhar Tajudin said the department received an emergency call at 1.05am and immediately deployed a team of seven firefighters to the scene, assisted by five members from the Seberang Nyonya volunteer fire brigade.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a Honda Civic FD fully engulfed in flames, with an estimated 85 percent damage to the vehicle.

Initial inspections revealed two victims trapped inside the car, both of whom had been burned beyond recognition. Their genders and identities have yet to be confirmed.

The fire was successfully brought under control at 1.23am. Firefighters later used cutting equipment to extricate the bodies from the wreckage.

The operation also involved personnel from the police and the Ministry of Health. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
