Two Dead After Toyota Innova And Perodua Myvi Crash Along Taiping Road

Date:

A tragic road accident along Jalan Taiping-Bagan Serai on Sunday evening claimed the lives of an elderly man and a woman after the vehicles they were travelling in collided head-on.

The fatal crash involved a Toyota Innova MPV and a Perodua Myvi, leaving two people dead while another victim escaped with minor injuries.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said authorities received an emergency call regarding the incident at around 4.56pm before firefighters from the Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescuers discovered the 66-year-old male driver of the Perodua Myvi trapped inside the driver’s seat and unconscious.

A 51-year-old woman, believed to be a passenger in the same vehicle, had already been pulled out by members of the public before firefighters arrived.

Meanwhile, the 46-year-old driver of the Toyota Innova managed to escape from his vehicle on his own and only suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Firefighters carried out a rescue operation using the SAVER concept, forcing open the Myvi’s door to free the trapped victim before handing both casualties over to medical personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

However, both occupants of the Perodua Myvi were pronounced dead at the scene by health officials.

The bodies were later handed over to police for further investigation and follow-up action.

The injured victim was transported to Hospital Parit Buntar for further treatment.

Authorities confirmed the rescue operation was fully concluded at around 6.15pm.
