Two men died and three others were injured in a three-vehicle collision at Kampung Buluh, Bandar Permaisuri, earlier today.
The accident, which occurred at 11:42am, involved a Volvo trailer, a Proton Saga, and a Honda Civic. Reports indicate that the Honda Civic caught fire following the collision but was quickly extinguished by members of the public using fire extinguishers before firefighters arrived.
Two men trapped inside the Honda Civic were rescued by fire crews using specialised equipment. The Ministry of Health (KKM) confirmed that both, the driver and passenger of the Civic, were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.
Meanwhile, the trailer driver and two occupants of the Proton Saga sustained injuries. They were assisted by bystanders before being handed over to ambulance personnel for further medical treatment.
Eight members of the Setiu Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene roughly two minutes after the emergency call. The rescue operation, including site clearance, concluded at 12:55pm.
