Two DID Workers Rescued After Being Trapped in Banting Mining Pond

Date:

Two Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) workers were rescued safely this morning after becoming stranded in a mining pond in Kampung Bukit Changgang, Banting.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the workers were performing improvement works on a river bund at Lombong Tasik, Jalan Tembaga, when rising water levels trapped them in the middle of the pond.

“The department received an emergency call at 5.34am, and a team from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station was deployed, arriving at 5.55am,” he said.

Mukhlis added that nine personnel, equipped with a fire rescue tender, a Hilux, and a rescue boat, conducted the operation, which was successfully concluded by 6.40am.
