Police have arrested two men linked to the notorious ‘Geng Daus Botak’ gang, known for committing house and storage burglaries, during an operation in Melaka Tengah on January 28.
The arrests were made around 5 pm by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Melaka Tengah District Police Headquarters (IPD) following public tips and ongoing intelligence work.
Melaka Tengah Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, are believed to be involved in seven burglary cases reported in the district.
“Police also seized a vehicle suspected to have been used in the crimes, along with various burglary tools,” he said in a statement today.
Authorities recovered several items believed to be stolen, including watches, laptops, tablets, a piano, mobile phones, and handbags.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment, a fine, and whipping. Additional investigations are also being conducted under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine.
Christopher added that both suspects are currently remanded until Friday to assist with further investigations.
