Two-Year-Old Found Dead Among Trash After Mom Reportedly Stopped Feeding Him for Weeks

Date:

A 28-year-old mother from Montana has been charged with murdering her two-year-old son after his decomposed body was discovered hidden among piles of laundry and trash inside their home.

Police found the toddler’s remains at the Lima residence on October 16 after being alerted to a foul smell. The house was reportedly in deplorable condition, filled with garbage, rotten food, and animal waste. The child — who suffered from spina bifida, club feet, and hydrocephalus — was found upstairs, lying beside a mattress and covered with a sweatshirt believed to belong to his mother, Nichole Lynn Boyer.

Boyer later turned herself in, reportedly telling police, “Just take me to jail.” According to investigators, she admitted she had stopped feeding and giving water to her son in September, claiming she had become “overwhelmed” while caring for him, her father, and three other children. She confessed that she hadn’t checked on him for weeks but allegedly convinced herself he was still alive.

Despite this, Boyer pleaded not guilty to a charge of deliberate homicide during her court appearance in Dillon, Montana. She has been remanded in custody pending her next hearing.

Authorities described the case as one of the most disturbing child neglect incidents they’ve seen, saying the boy was left to die in isolation while his mother carried on with daily life just rooms away.
