A group of 10 hikers was successfully rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) after experiencing health complications during a trek at Lambir National Park yesterday.
According to Bomba, the distress call came in at approximately 4.10pm after some members of the group suffered from shortness of breath and leg cramps.
A rescue team of six firefighters from the Miri fire station, led by operation commander Robinson Anyie Danyin, was dispatched to the scene located 35km away. The team was assisted by five park rangers during the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
The hikers were found roughly 900 metres from the starting point of the trail. All victims were safely escorted back to the trailhead without further incident.
The operation concluded at 6.51pm.
