Uncle Arrested for Beating Nephews With Cane Granted Bail, Investigation Continues

Date:

An uncle accused of beating his young nephews with a cane has been granted bail after his police remand expired today.

Kuala Lumpur District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin, stated that although the suspect has been released on police bail, the investigation into the case will continue.

“The police expect to submit the investigation report to the Deputy Public Prosecutor this week for further instructions, including whether the suspect will be charged in court,” he said.

The incident occurred on the evening of January 16 at around 9 PM in a terrace house unit in Kuala Lumpur’s District 22.

A video showing the Chinese man whipping the two young boys quickly went viral online. Following reports to the police, authorities took swift action and arrested the suspect to assist with the investigation.

Police later confirmed that the two boys are siblings, and the suspect is their uncle.
