Police are investigating a viral incident involving a lorry transporting a helicopter that caused severe traffic congestion and disrupted an ambulance’s journey in Subang Jaya earlier this month.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a police report was lodged at 8.06pm on Dec 12 after a video of the incident circulated on TikTok via the account Black Lifestyle. The footage showed a long trailer carrying a helicopter travelling from the Kesas Highway towards a slip road leading to Persiaran Kewajipan.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred at about 4.30pm on Dec 4, when the trailer was unable to pass through the slip road due to the excessive length of its load. The obstruction resulted in traffic congestion and disrupted the movement of other road users, including an ambulance seen struggling to proceed because of the traffic buildup.
Wan Azlan said police have yet to identify the registration number of the vehicle involved. Investigations are being carried out under Rule 9(2) of the Road Traffic Rules 166/59 for failing to give way to emergency vehicles, including ambulances.
Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to assist investigations by contacting the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department’s investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Azizul Hakim Roslan, at 011-28914495.
