A man, reportedly a foreign national, has drawn widespread public criticism after footage showing him washing vegetables inside a water tank went viral on social media.
The video, uploaded on Facebook by user HJ Ahmad Shafie on Saturday, shows the man standing inside the tank while cleaning spinach, raising serious concerns about hygiene and food safety.
The person recording the video can be heard scolding the man and questioning the cleanliness of the vegetables.
Since its posting, the clip has amassed nearly five million views. The New Straits Times reached out to the uploader for details on the location of the incident but had not received a response at the time of writing.
Netizens expressed anger in the comments section. One user, Hadi Said, urged authorities to monitor such practices, saying: “Where’s the owner? I hope the authorities monitor practices like this. This is wrong — it’s filthy and doesn’t follow hygiene standards at all.”
Another user, Suraimi Omar, called for immediate action: “Find this place and take action against those responsible.”
