Woman And Two Children Killed After Perodua Aruz SUV Crashes Into Electric Pole

Date:

A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a woman and two of her children after the Perodua Aruz sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in veered off the road at Kilometer 59 of Jalan Jerangau-Jabor earlier today. The incident occurred near Felda Jerangau at approximately 6:10 pm, resulting in a devastating scene that drew immediate attention from local authorities and passers-by. While the identities of the deceased have yet to be officially confirmed by the police, the loss of life has sent shockwaves through the nearby community.

Preliminary reports indicate that two of the victims died instantly at the location of the crash due to the severity of the impact. The third victim was rushed to the Jerangau Health Clinic in a desperate attempt to save their life, but they were unfortunately pronounced dead shortly after arrival by medical personnel. This brings the current death toll from the single-vehicle accident to three, involving a mother and two young family members who were part of the five passengers on board.

Two other children who were also in the vehicle survived the initial collision but sustained various injuries that required urgent medical intervention. They were quickly transported to Dungun Hospital by emergency responders to undergo further evaluation and treatment for their wounds. The condition of these survivors remains a priority for medical staff as the police begin their formal investigation into the factors that led to the vehicle losing control on the stretch of road.

Dungun District Police Chief Superintendent Maizura Abdul Kadir confirmed the occurrence of the fatal accident and stated that more comprehensive details would be released as the investigation progresses. According to Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Mohd Izzuddin Mahmood, his team arrived at the site to find the SUV had violently struck an electric pole located on the road shoulder. The force of the crash necessitated the use of specialised rescue equipment to extricate three of the victims who were trapped within the wreckage.

The Fire and Rescue Department worked alongside members of the public, who managed to pull two of the victims from the vehicle before the arrival of the authorities. All victims were subsequently handed over to the police and Ministry of Health (MOH) staff for the necessary follow-up procedures and forensic documentation. As the site is cleared and evidence is gathered, the authorities are expected to look into weather conditions and vehicle technicalities to determine the exact cause of this heartbreaking tragedy.
