An Indonesian woman believed to have fled from embassy authorities was found dead after falling into a lake at Lake Valley Lake Park in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Selangor, Malaysia on Monday.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, Assistant Director of Operations at the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, said the department received an emergency call at about 4.35pm.
Following the alert, a team from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed to the location to conduct a search for the victim.
The operation was later reinforced by the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) from the Port Klang Fire and Rescue Station, Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station and KLIA Fire and Rescue Station.
Divers from the PPDA unit began their underwater search at approximately 10.10pm before discovering the victim at 10.19pm, about six metres from the edge of the lake.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was confirmed dead at the scene.
Her body has since been handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police for further investigation.
Ahmad Mukhlis added that the operation also involved personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force as well as representatives from the Embassy of Indonesia in Malaysia.
The search and recovery operation concluded fully at around 11.10pm, he said.
