A woman in Indonesia has been arrested after allegedly cutting off her husband’s genitals in a fit of jealousy, following the discovery of affectionate messages between him and another woman.
According to Kebon Jeruk Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, AKP Ganda Sibarani, the 33-year-old suspect, identified as HZ, admitted to the act after becoming enraged upon finding text messages that suggested her husband, H, 35, was having an affair.
“The suspect confessed that her actions were driven by jealousy after discovering messages in her husband’s phone indicating he was involved with another woman,” Ganda said on Monday.
The shocking incident occurred on July 20 in Sukabumi Utara, Kebon Jeruk. Police later conducted a crime scene reenactment at the Kebon Jeruk Police Station on October 21 as part of the investigation.
During the reenactment, HZ was shown taking her husband’s phone from a table in their bedroom before reading the messages that triggered her anger. She then attempted to initiate intimacy with her husband, but he refused and went to the bathroom instead.
In a rage, HZ went to the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and returned to the bedroom. As her husband lay down, she allegedly approached him and cut off his genitals.
The victim, who woke up in agony, reportedly confronted his wife, who accused him of cheating. Panicking after realizing what she had done, the woman placed the severed organ into a plastic bag. Despite his severe injuries, she rushed him to Anggrek Mas Hospital on a motorcycle before he was transferred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).
Tragically, the husband died on August 12, 2025 — 23 days after the attack — from his injuries.
HZ now faces charges under Article 354 of the Indonesian Penal Code for causing serious injury, which carries a maximum prison sentence of nine years.
Police said the reenactment involved 18 scenes and included the suspect and multiple witnesses to help reconstruct the sequence of events.
