A woman was killed while her husband and daughter survived after a road accident on Jalan Pelabuhan Barat heading toward Pulau Indah, near Klang, this afternoon.
South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, said the crash, which occurred at 1:02 pm, involved a motorcycle and a trailer.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident happened when a local man, 40, was riding an SM Sport 110R motorcycle with his wife and 10-year-old daughter. He was trying to weave through several heavy vehicles, causing his motorcycle to brush against a trailer and fall in the middle of the road,” he explained.
As a result, a trailer traveling ahead was unable to avoid the fallen passenger, running over the rider’s wife, who was the motorcycle’s pillion passenger.
“The victim’s body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for a post-mortem. The husband and daughter sustained minor injuries and are being treated at the same hospital. The trailer driver was uninjured,” Ramli added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Footage from a dashcam, which has circulated on social media, shows the chaotic aftermath of the crash. The motorcyclist can be seen moving his wife’s body and lifting his daughter, who was trapped under the bike, amid the confusion.
