A woman claims she discovered a hidden spy camera inside a bouquet of flowers she received at a public university convocation in November.
The 26-year-old, who only wished to be identified as Anne, said the device was only noticed about three months later when her sister realised her husband’s phone automatically connected via Bluetooth to a strangely named device. Curious, they attempted to connect to it and discovered instructions to download an app called IWF Camera.
“Once the app was downloaded, my phone displayed a live feed of my bedroom, showing my bed and ceiling fan,” Anne said. The bouquet had previously been placed in her room directly facing the bed. Further inspection revealed the camera was tiny with a small red light to indicate it was operating. Shockingly, what looked like floral foam was actually a power bank supplying energy to the camera, which used Wi-Fi to stream footage.

Anne reported the incident to the Kuantan district police with her sister. Officers visited their home to examine the bouquet’s placement and take photographs for investigation. Police noted this is the first case they have handled involving a hidden camera concealed within a floral arrangement and suggested it may have been installed by an external supplier providing bouquets to vendors.
The bouquet with the camera is now in police custody as the investigation continues. Anne initially shared her story on Threads but removed the post after receiving negative comments, including unsubstantiated accusations involving family members. She clarified that her niece, who bought the flowers at her request, could not have been involved.
Kuantan District Police Chief, Asst. Comm. Ashari Abu Samah, confirmed the report and said the case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code. He urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation is ongoing.
