A man went on a violent rampage at a house in Bandar Teknologi Kajang on Friday, where he slaughtered his former girlfriend’s pet chicken with a machete, doused her and her 80-year-old mother with petrol, and set a car on fire.
The woman, in her 40s, was awakened by her mother at about 3.20pm and informed that her former boyfriend was at the front porch of their home. It is understood that the man had opened the woman’s vehicle, a Proton Saga, removed her belongings, and placed them into rubbish bags.
When the woman rushed downstairs, she discovered that some of her belongings had been set on fire. She attempted to speak to the man, but he allegedly poured petrol over both women and threatened them with a lighter.
The suspect then picked up one of the woman’s two pet chickens and slaughtered it with a machete he had brought with him. He later poured petrol over the woman’s car and set it ablaze.
The woman, who was standing behind the vehicle at the time, suffered burns to several parts of her body, including her hair, according to a source.
The man also allegedly took the woman’s laptop and threw it by the roadside before fleeing the scene. Neighbours later recovered the device.
The Proton Saga was completely destroyed, and several items inside the house were damaged by the fire. The entire incident was captured on the home’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
Sources said the woman had ended her relationship with the suspect more than a month ago and had neither seen nor heard from him since the breakup until the attack.
Both women lodged a police report at the Kajang police headquarters. The suspect was arrested later the same day while hiding in a neighbour’s unit at an apartment block in Bandar Saujana Putra. He has been remanded for four days to assist with investigations.
