Woman Escapes with Minor Injuries After Car Plunges into River in Pendang

A 43-year-old woman escaped with minor injuries after her car skidded off the road and plunged into a river near Kampung Banggol Besi early today.

Pendang Fire and Rescue Station chief Ahmad Huzaini Halil said the department received an emergency call at 1.04am and immediately dispatched a team, including an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, to the scene.

“Upon arrival, rescuers found a Proton Saga in the river, with the female occupant still at the location,” he said.

Firefighters safely lifted the woman from the river using a stretcher before providing initial treatment. She was later transported to Pendang Hospital by EMRS ambulance for further medical attention.

The rescue operation, involving seven personnel, concluded at 1.25am.
