Authorities in Thailand have arrested a woman accused of livestreaming the sexual abuse of her underage son, a case that has shocked the nation. The teenage victim is currently being cared for at a local shelter.
According to The Thaiger, the Thai Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) received reports from the public regarding child sexual abuse material circulating online within a private, paid-access group. Cyber police traced the activity to a woman in Sa Kaeo Province, who allegedly livestreamed sexual abuse of her 15-year-old son and charged viewers for access.
Investigations revealed that some of the videos were recorded during live broadcasts. On November 3, police searched the suspect’s home, seizing a mobile phone, sex toys used in the videos, and a notebook documenting her earnings. The woman, identified only as “A,” admitted to the offenses.
A told authorities that she initially only shared explicit videos of herself, but later included her son at the request of group members. Reports indicate that she earned approximately 10,000 baht per month (around NT$9,494) from virtual gifts given by viewers and group administrators.
A is expected to face charges under Section 14(4) of the Computer Crime Act, which criminalizes uploading or distributing explicit content online and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both. She also violated Section 287 of the Penal Code, which prohibits the production, possession, import, export, or distribution of obscene materials, punishable by up to three years in prison, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both.
