A woman in India has filed a police complaint against her husband of two years, alleging that she was deceived about his physical appearance.
Lavika Gupta, a resident of Gaur City Avenue-1, married Sanyam Jain on January 16, 2024.
According to the complaint, Gupta claimed she was promised a husband with “thick hair” but discovered after the wedding that her husband was bald and wore a wig.
The complaint, filed on January 6 at Bisrakh Police Station, also alleges that Jain had concealed the truth about his education, income, and financial status.
Gupta further accused her husband of threatening to release her private photos, committing physical abuse, and pressuring her to carry marijuana from Thailand to India during international travel.
The case has been registered against five individuals, including the husband and four of his family members, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Charges include cruelty by a husband or family, intentional insult causing disruption, criminal intimidation, criminal breach of trust, physical assault, and violations of the Mahar Prohibition Act.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and emphasized that transparency and honesty in marriage are essential for a healthy and safe relationship.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of caution when making marital decisions, particularly regarding personal, financial, and safety matters.
