As the year-end period sees a rise in theft cases, a burglary incident in Wuhan, Hubei, has drawn attention after a thief brazenly searched for valuables beside a sleeping homeowner’s bed.
According to local police, the incident occurred when a suspect broke into a residential unit in the early hours of the morning. Upon entering the bedroom, the intruder found the female homeowner already asleep and proceeded to rummage through items near the head of the bed.

The woman later said she realised someone was in the room but remained calm and pretended to stay asleep to avoid provoking the intruder or risking injury. The thief eventually left the premises with stolen items.
After the suspect fled, the woman contacted the police. Officers from the Caijiazha Street Police Station under the Huangpi Branch of the Wuhan Public Security Bureau responded to the report and launched an investigation.
Police later succeeded in tracking down and arresting the suspected burglar. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
