Woman Severely Bitten by Rat Now Hospitalised in Tokyo

Date:

Travelers heading to Tokyo, Japan, should exercise caution as reports emerge of an escalating rodent problem in the city. A female tourist from Dubai was bitten by a rat on the streets of Shinjuku on the 9th, causing severe bleeding and requiring emergency medical treatment. The dramatic incident has since gone viral online.

The woman shared on Instagram that after leaving her hotel in Shinjuku, a rat suddenly attacked her foot, biting her and causing significant bleeding. Shocked and in pain, she rushed to the hospital, where she was treated and discharged within an hour. However, her foot still bears deep bite marks and bruises.

Tokyo districts like Shinjuku and Shibuya have seen increasing reports of rats roaming the streets, with the number of victims rising. Officials attribute the surge to late-night business hours and the accumulation of food waste and garbage on the streets, which have worsened the rodent problem in popular tourist areas.
