Six more witnesses are expected to testify today, on the fourth day of the inquest into the death of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, at the Coroner’s Court.
The witnesses include two medical doctors, school staff members, and a forensic officer.
So far, only two out of 68 witnesses listed by the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) have taken the stand during the first three days of proceedings.
Yesterday, the second witness from the Chemistry Department of Malaysia testified on the authenticity of handwriting found in 21 documents belonging to Zara Qairina.
These documents included 15 sheets of paper, four notebooks, and two textbooks submitted by police for forensic examination.
Document examiner Nurul Atiqah Mohd Noh revealed that one of the books she inspected contained two distinct handwriting styles.
The book, marked W3, appeared to have been written alternately by Zara Qairina and another individual, as evident from differing handwriting on several pages.
On its first page, two names were written — Zara Qairina, listed as the primary writer, and another unidentified individual.
Nurul Atiqah added that other documents, including papers marked Y1 to Y7 and Y9 to Y15, as well as Y8, and books W1 and W2, matched only Zara Qairina’s handwriting, showing significant similarities to her known samples.
Her testimony concluded at around 5 p.m. yesterday.
However, another handwriting expert is expected to testify soon, following a decision by Zara Qairina’s mother’s legal team to appoint an independent handwriting specialist to review the documents.
