36-Year-Old Woman Yawns And Nearly Bedridden For Life

Date:

A 36-year-old British mother, Hayley Black, recently shared on social media a terrifying experience from 2016, when a simple yawn led to a cervical spine fracture, leaving her partially paralyzed and nearly bedridden for life. Years later, she still feels grateful and urges people to trust their instincts and seek medical attention when something feels wrong.

Hayley recalled that the incident happened just after she got out of bed to prepare a bottle for her newborn. While yawning and stretching, she suddenly felt an intense, electric-like pain in her neck, and her hand froze midair. She immediately called her husband for help and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Initial examinations showed no obvious issues, leaving medical staff puzzled, and Hayley described the pain as so unbearable she wanted to knock herself out.

Further diagnostics revealed that her C6 and C7 vertebrae had dislocated due to excessive force, pressing on her spinal cord and causing fractures. Surgeons warned that if the operation failed, she had a 50% chance of permanent paralysis. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Hayley miraculously recovered.

Though physically healed, the incident left a lasting psychological impact. She now feels anxious even when yawning and must carefully control her movements. Hayley expressed deep gratitude to the doctors who saved her, allowing her to continue caring for her child and live a normal life. She also encouraged everyone to pay attention to warning signs from their body and never ignore them.
