Authorities Probe Viral Video Of Man Engulfed In Flames Diving Into Sea

Date:

A shocking and reckless stunt has sparked outrage after a young man set himself on fire before jumping into the sea as part of a dangerous social media challenge.

Footage circulating online shows the 20-year-old wearing a dark hoodie as flames engulf the upper part of his body before he leaps from a height into the water below.

Despite being fully ablaze, he is seen performing a somersault mid-air before plunging into the sea at the Port of Valencia on June 18.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, amid growing concerns over the rise of dangerous online challenges among young people.

Investigators revealed that the individual did not even purchase the fuel used in the stunt, instead allegedly siphoning petrol from a nearby marine fuel station.

The act took place just metres away from a busy refuelling area for boats and yachts, raising serious alarm over the potential for a major explosion.

Officials described the incident as a severe public safety risk, warning that a single mistake could have led to catastrophic consequences.

The video quickly went viral across multiple social media platforms, prompting renewed calls for stricter monitoring of hazardous online content.

Authorities are now also examining those involved in organising or sharing the stunt, with the individual believed to be linked to a group known for posting dangerous motorbike and quad bike videos.

City officials have condemned the behaviour and confirmed that plain-clothed officers will be deployed to prevent similar incidents in future.
