Thai police are investigating a mysterious double death after a man and a woman were found dead inside a locked car parked along a roadside in Bangkok, with the pair discovered under unusual circumstances.
Officers, accompanied by forensic and rescue personnel, were called to Soi 15, Bang Waek, where they found a suspicious car with all four doors locked from the inside. Rescue workers were forced to break into the vehicle to gain access.
Inside, police found the bodies of a 27-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, both in partially reclined positions. The woman was found with foam around her mouth, while the man was discovered partially naked from the waist down and still wearing a condom.
Investigators also found that the vehicle’s front and side windows had been covered with sunshades, making it difficult for passers-by to see inside. There were no signs of a struggle or missing valuables, although the car was fitted with an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) system.
Forensic experts estimated the pair had died between eight and 10 hours before their bodies were discovered. Preliminary findings suggest they died from respiratory and circulatory failure, although the exact cause remains under investigation pending a full post-mortem and toxicology report.
A nearby resident told investigators that the car had been parked by a wall at around 3am, with its engine still running. The resident reportedly knocked on the window and asked the occupants to move the vehicle but received no response. When the car remained in the same spot at around 10am, the resident became suspicious and alerted the authorities.
The woman’s parents arrived at the scene devastated after learning of her death. They revealed that the day of the incident was their daughter’s birthday and that she had left home saying she was meeting friends to celebrate. They also said they had never met or heard of the male victim and had no knowledge of any relationship between the two.
Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and interviewing witnesses, relatives and acquaintances of both victims to reconstruct their final movements.
Authorities said all possible causes of death remain under investigation as they await the complete forensic findings.
