A 24-year-old bride-to-be was killed by a crocodile measuring more than four metres while washing clothes with her fiancé and sister at a river in Indonesia.
Selviana Ambu Kaka was dragged into the Bondo Kodi River in Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, recently, according to The Sun UK.
Her family members said the huge reptile bit her left thigh before pulling her beneath the water.
Her fiancé, Fabianus Dowa, and her sister, identified as Imelda, rushed to alert other family members, prompting local residents to launch a search operation.
Police said the rescue mission continued until early Saturday morning, when the crocodile was eventually caught using a net.
Footage shared on social media showed residents hauling the reptile onto dry land before decapitating it.
Selviana’s body was discovered at around 6am the following day, approximately 30.48 metres from the spot where she was last seen.
“Victim had died when her body was found. She is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while bathing,” authorities said.
Local residents said Selviana had returned home from Jakarta three days earlier to marry Fabianus.
