A pool party in India ended in tragedy after a 25-year-old man died moments after diving head-first from a rooftop into a shallow private swimming pool while celebrating with friends.
The victim, identified as Milind Tackle, had travelled with around 10 friends to a luxury resort in Malvan, Gujarat, for a holiday. According to local media reports, the group had gathered around their private pool, swimming, dancing and singing while blasting loud music.
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral online, allegedly shows the group enjoying themselves in the pool while Milind climbs onto the roof beside it. As the music continued, he was seen dancing before suddenly spreading his arms and diving head-first into the water.
Witnesses said the loud splash briefly caught the attention of his friends, but the music and celebrations quickly resumed as they appeared unaware that anything had gone wrong. It was only some time later that members of the group realised Milind had failed to resurface and was floating motionless in the pool.
His friends immediately pulled him from the water and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival after he suffered severe head injuries.
Police later revealed that the private swimming pool was only around chest-deep for an average adult and was not designed for diving from height. Investigators believe Milind struck the bottom of the pool head-first after entering the water, causing fatal injuries.
Authorities have classified the incident as an accidental death and have returned the victim’s body to his family. The tragedy has also prompted renewed warnings about the dangers of diving into shallow water, particularly during parties where excitement and distractions can lead to fatal decisions.
