A 42-year-old man has died and two others were injured following a violent clash at a former SPA centre in Fengshan, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, early Monday morning.
The deceased, identified by police as a 42-year-old man surnamed Lee, was reportedly injured during the incident at a premises along Baotai Road before fleeing the area and seeking help from members of the public.
He was seen running towards Gangshan South Street in Qianzhen District, where he reportedly asked passers-by for help. He later collapsed from his injuries.
Police found Lee unconscious with injuries to his head. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead despite emergency treatment.
After reviewing surveillance footage and speaking to nearby businesses, police preliminarily believe Lee and two other men were involved in a confrontation with four men at the premises.
The two other injured men, surnamed Lin, 52, and Chuang, 51, were taken to hospital for treatment.
The four alleged attackers reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle following the confrontation and remain at large.
Police said the premises had previously operated as a health and wellness centre but ceased business at the end of August. The upper floors are currently being used as subdivided rental units.
The deceased and the two injured men are understood to have been friends. Police are investigating a possible debt dispute as the motive, although the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the identity of the alleged creditor have yet to be established.
The Fengshan Precinct has formed a special task force and is reviewing additional surveillance footage while tracing the suspects and vehicle involved.
Police will also arrange for the deceased to undergo a forensic examination in accordance with legal procedures as investigations continue.
