NASA Map Reveals Dark Red Carbon Monoxide Concentrations Across Indonesia

Date:

NASA satellite imagery has revealed widespread concentrations of carbon monoxide across Indonesia, according to news website Harian Disway.

Images published on NASA’s Eyes on the Earth website, covering the period from Tuesday to yesterday, showed elevated concentrations of the gas, represented by red and orange colours, across several parts of the country.

The NASA map displayed daily carbon monoxide concentration data at an atmospheric pressure level of around 500 millibars (mb).

Dark red areas covered large parts of Indonesia, including Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua and surrounding regions.

The data showed average atmospheric carbon monoxide concentrations at an altitude of approximately 5,486.4 metres over a three-day observation period.

Meanwhile, areas to the north and south of Indonesia were predominantly represented by yellow, green and blue.

These colour variations indicate differences in the carbon monoxide concentrations detected in the atmosphere and visualised through NASA’s satellite data.
