A pizza delivery driver was shot and killed while delivering an order to an apartment in North Philadelphia, according to police.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said the incident occurred around 12.30am on Friday (June 6) at the Raymond Rosen Homes along Edgley Street.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire found the 28-year-old victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to Temple University Hospital.
Investigators later discovered the order had been placed to a vacant unit in the housing complex, suggesting the delivery was part of a setup.
Police said pizza boxes and a delivery bag were found inside the empty apartment, indicating the victim had completed the drop-off before the shooting occurred.
Authorities also recovered three spent shell casings just inches from where the driver was found, suggesting the shooter was in close range.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed the victim being followed by two individuals in dark clothing before the attack, although the shooting itself was not captured on camera.
Police have not made any arrests, but said investigators are actively pursuing leads, including the phone number used to place the fake order.
